GHEC Testing Calendar 2016-2017

 

NWEA

  • Grades K-8

  • 3 Administrations: October 3rd -19th, January 9th-20th and May 15th-26th.

  • K-8 students are tested on reading and math

  • Tests typically take between 30 to 50 minutes. K-2 students will have no more than 25 minute sessions.

  • This assessment is issued by Granada Huntley East Chain District and nationally normed. It is used by teachers throughout the year to check in on student progress and to plan future instruction and curriculum .

ACCESS

  • Annual test of students identified as English learners

  • The state testing window is January 30th to March 24th

  • Actual testing dates by grades will be dependent on classroom schedules

  • Students are assessed for progress in listening, speaking, reading, and writing

ACT Exam

  • College entrance exam

  • Juniors (and seniors who did not participate as juniors) may take the test once for free

  • GHEC School will be administering the test on the morning of April 19th

Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments/Minnesota Test of Academic Skills

  • Administered annually according to Minnesota Department of Education requirements

  • Reading is tested in 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 10th grades

  • Math is tested in 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 11th grades

  • Science is tested in 5th, 8th, and once in high school, usually 10th grade

  • Results are used by the state and locally to measure growth year-to-year

  • Tentative Schedule:

    • 3rd grade April 12th-13th Reading and Math May 2-3

    • 4th, 5th grade Reading April 5th-7th and Math April 24th and 25th

    • 5th science May 9th

    • 6th and 7th grade Reading April 11th-13th and Math April 26th-27th, May 2nd and 3rd

    • 8th grade Reading April 5th-6th, Math April 26th and 27th, and Science May 9th

    • 10th grade Reading April 17th-19th

    • 11th grade Math April 27th and 28th

    • High school Science May 9th

  • Estimated times provided by Minnesota Department of Education:

    • Reading grades 3-8: 3.5-4.5 hours

    • Reading grade 10: 4-5 hours

    • Math grades 3-8: 1.5-2 hours

    • Math grade 11: 2.5-3.5 hours

    • Science grades 5 and 8: 1.75 hours

ASVAB

  • Results include Career Exploration Program to help students recognize skills/aptitudes

  • Military entrance exam (optional - used only for students interested in enlistment)

  • Sophomores (this year only) and Juniors (and seniors who did not participate as juniors) may take the test

  • Outside agency administering the test on the morning of Tuesday, November 16, 2016
